Aretha Franklin


Aretha Louise Franklin (born March 25, 1942) is an American singer and musician. Franklin began her career singing gospel at her father, minister C. L. Franklin's church as a child. In 1960, at age 18, Franklin embarked on a secular career,


recording for Columbia Records only achieving modest success. Following her signing to Atlantic Records in 1967, Franklin achieved commercial acclaim and success with songs such as "Respect", "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and "Think". These hits and more helped her to gain the title The Queen of Soul by the end of the 1960s decade.

Wilson Pickett. (1941 – 2006) A major figure in the development of American soul music, Pickett recorded over 50 songs, among his best known hits are In the Midnight Hour, Land of 1,000 Dances, and Mustang Sally.

Sam & Dave. were an American soul and duo who performed together from 1961 through to 1981. The tenor (higher) voice was Samuel David Moore and the baritone/tenor (lower) voice was Dave Prater, Recording Hit songs Hold On I'm Coming, & Soulman.

Otis Ray Redding, Jr. (1941 – 1967) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, arranger and talent scout. He is considered one of the greatest singers and a major artist in soul and rhythm and blues. His singing style was powerfully influential among soul artists of 1960s and helped exemplify the Stax Sound.
